Natural cure for panic and anxiety attacks?


im suffering big time with panic attacks and i am 23 years old. i was prescribed paxil but the side effects are really bad i believe in holistic healing. can anyone help me with this

    wow… another one of these ppl who are gonna pop lil round things filled with chemicals that will kill you in the long run and make your problems stronger and worse in the long run. a natural cure for this is: MARIJUANA!

    No I don’t do holistic healing but I do take Effexor and Xanax for depression and anxiety…the combination has helped me tremendously. My husband takes paxil once a day and has had no side effects at all…Have you given paxil a chance?

    I wish you well with your holistic healing but I needed a bit more than that.

    I’ve suffered for 13 years with them and I’ve done several things. I just started back on Lexapro yesterday, actually. I’ve done Paxil in the past and was ok with it.

    However, I have done just counseling and that helped during that time. I also had been seeing a doctor who uses various amino acids that you buy in vitamin stores to help control my anxiety.

    I’ve stopped these different approaches for various reasons, but you just have to find what works for you. Also, how long have you been on Paxil. You have to give it a few weeks. But consult a doctor about it if they are that bad…and before getting off of it.

    write down all of the things that you are scared or worried about. Write down the exact words that you are saying to yourself. Like "I hate socializing with people." Rewrite it making it positive. Like, I can and I will find away to enjoy socializing with people. Keep a rubber band on your wrist. When you find yourself getting worried or concentrating on the negative. Pull the rubber band and pop yourself. Then say the positive phrase out loud. (Say it in an undertone if you are around others, but make sure you say it). Its supposed to shock you out of the path that takes your down to a panic attack. Panic attacks are a result of self-talk. I got it from a book called: You are what you think. After popping myself a few times i realized I don’t want to face the consequences and immediately change my thoughts and self-talk.

    I’ve seen some nice studies of mirtazapine (Remeron) as an antipanic agent. Maybe you could switch to that if you have trouble with SSRI side effects. Psychotherapy can also help you. Holistic healing will not.

    Vitamin B12 and B6. Get a B complex trust me!! It has helped me so much. I had extremely horrifying panic attacks last summer and I took vitamin B to help me along the way. Now I’m much better and I don’t have to take anything. Don’t ignore this, seriously!

    Try Kava Kava and valarian root. Also try 5-htp.

    All of these you can pick up in a vitamin store. Kava Kava should help with panic attacks cause in large doses it’s like taking a xanax. Valarian root should help you sleep and 5-htp is like natural paxel.

    I am not religious and this book is not so much religious as it is common sense and better than any medication or therapy out there, go to the library and get Conversations with God Book 1 by Neale Donald walsh.

    I hit rock bottom a good 8 years or so ago, I had severe panic attacks, then depression because I felt I couldn’t be normal, I even became somewhat anorexic due to my depression. My dogs groomer told me to read that book and I laughed at her and told her I would never understand anything to do with God because at that time in my life I felt that if there was a God, he was against me. I am spiritual but not religious. I have had many spiritual experiences since childhood and yet never understood the bible, just went with what I actually KNEW from experience.
    After reading that book, within weeks into reading it I noticed my panic attacks stopped, I still feared having them but I didn’t actually have them. I would begin to panic and realize it wasn’t actually happening. I had more mind control.
    I look back as bad as I was, so bad that I don’t know if I would still be here had it not been for that book.

    One thing it says that I still remember after all these years of reading it is that we have 2 emotions in life that we react upon, one is love, the other is fear. Like jealousy for instance, it is a fear of losing and or fear of never having.

    Please get the book, at least try to read through it, you won’t know until you try. I wish you the best. You can beat this, and you CAN and ARE normal and can live a normal life again.

    I used to sit by my window and watch cars go by wondering why I couldn’t just get in my car and go like everyone else does, watching everyone live while I just exists. It is NOT a nice place to be- get that book, get a positive attitude, you will have a different perspective on life, begin to laugh at life in a way, find humor in stressful issues, and not take things as serious. You also may be indigo which I am, look up indigo and indigo adults and see if you match any of those traits because many of us who are indigo usually suffer from anxiety and depression until we better understand who we really are.
